Compressed fluids extraction methods, yields, antioxidant activities, total phenolics and flavonoids content for Brazilian Mantiqueira hops

This study compares the yields of different extractions methods for a Brazilian variety Humulus lupulus using scCO2, scCO2 + ethanol, ethyl acetate, and compressed propane. Extracts were characterized by total phenolics content (TPC), flavonoid (TFC), antioxidant activity (AA). The extraction from 2.7 to 10.1 wt% when propane at 20 °C 10 MPa acetate 80 25 MPa, respectively. Furthermore, effect adding as cosolvent in semi-batch process over time extracts properties evaluated comparison obtained results indicate that increases yield produces samples with higher TPC, TFC, AA values comparing ethanol similar compared pure scCO2.
